Security, Security, Security… Inside the Initiative That Led to the First Minted-in-Outer-Space NFT

Casper Association teams up with WISeKey, MAKE Foundation and Brooke Shields for an historic first

Today marks an exciting milestone for the Casper ecosystem – and far, far beyond! Earlier today, in conjunction with WISeKey (NASDAQ: WKEY), MAKE International and noted actor, model, author and entrepreneur Brooke Shields, the Casper Network launched the first-ever NFT to be minted in outer space.

The Brooke Shields’ NFT, part of WISeKey’s WISe.ART NFT collection, is powered by Casper’s future-proof blockchain and contains a one-of-a-kind photograph of Brooke Shields from her personal archives. It was sent by a WISeSat space satellite in orbit, following the successful launch and deployment of several WISeSats on the SpaceX Transporter 3 Rideshare mission earlier this year.

Beyond its unique, extraplanetary origin story, there’s an additional point of significance worth celebrating around this launch: it’s a milestone for NFTs embracing more rigorous security standards – a key feature of the Casper blockchain.

Casper’s industry-leading security standards, married with its exceptionally strong performance track record, presents a unique opportunity for the growing number of businesses embracing NFT technology. Finding a solution that meets the strenuous security requirements of enterprises has to date been a largely quixotic task. But as a growing number of global, publicly traded companies like WISeKey are proving, Casper has championed a truly enterprise-grade solution.

The Casper-based WISe.ART Marketplace platform binds irrevocably physical objects to their digital assets in a safe end-to-end process, and includes permanent secured storage of the NFTs. It ensures that besides an authenticated and signed version of the actual digital asset, an irreversible link to a physical object can be created by providing a proof of ownership, provenance and relevant contracts describing future use and monetization streams remain forever and immutably verifiable on the blockchain.

As Brooke Shields herself noted, regarding the news:

“Protecting the integrity of my brand and life’s work has always been a priority for me. With the blockchain solution from WISeKey, Casper Network and MAKE International, I now have a sophisticated way of securing and authenticating this important and personal series of photographs.”

Brooke Shields is the latest to join Casper’s fast-growing NFT community, which is made up of businesses and individuals alike. Earlier this year, the first CasperPunks collection was minted. Additional NFT-based projects from companies like Dmusic, Metacask and IPWe are also ongoing on the Casper Network.

Brooke Shields’ participation was made possible by the actor’s partnership with MAKE International, a blockchain technology services company currently developing her NFT project, scheduled to drop later this year.
