Provisioning at Manufacture
Connected products need a secure and verifiable identity before they leave the factory. If cryptographic credentials are added later through an untrusted process, devices may be exposed to cloning, impersonation, counterfeiting or unauthorized network access.
WISeKey enables manufacturers to establish trust during semiconductor or device production. Each product can receive a unique digital identity, cryptographic key pair and certificate within a controlled provisioning environment. Sensitive private keys can be generated and retained inside secure hardware so that they are never exposed during manufacturing or operation.
The provisioned identity becomes the foundation for secure onboarding, authentication, encrypted communication, software updates and lifecycle management.

What it covers
Provisioning capabilities include
01
Injection or generation of unique device identities
02
Secure creation and storage of cryptographic keys
03
Certificate issuance linked to WISeKey’s Root of Trust
04
Hardware-backed provisioning using secure elements
05
Batch, production-line and remote provisioning models
06
Integration with semiconductor, module and device manufacturing processes
07
Secure registration with cloud and IoT platforms
08
Traceability from manufacturing through deployment
09
Support for certificate renewal, revocation and ownership transfer
10
Conventional, hybrid and post-quantum credential options
For manufacturers, provisioning at source creates new commercial opportunities. Trusted devices can support subscription services, authenticated consumables, secure maintenance, anti-counterfeiting programs and lifecycle-based digital services after the initial product sale.
