Mobile World Congress – WISeKey partners with Swisscom to provide Trusted Encrypted Personal Clouds stored in Switzerland

Geneva/Barcelona, 24 February 2014 – Swiss cyber security company WISeKey partners with Swisscom for the launch of “WISeID Personal Cloud.” The offering is using encryption and mobile WISeID Personal Cloud app that will store data in Swisscom Data Centers in Switzerland to provide and support personal cloud computing services.

WISeID Personal Cloud provides trusted digital identities via mobile and desktop apps for individuals and corporations performing confidential transactions on open Internet. The WISeID Cloud app is a set of online tools to empower the user by providing secure, authenticated, private digital identification and personal data storage on a Secure Vault on the Cloud. WISeID Personal Could version 5 launched today at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona enables users to protect and sync their data and passwords across their personal mobile devices. The partnership with Swisscom covers that the encrypted personal authentication key is stored in Swisscom Data Centers in Switzerland (Swisscom Dynamic Storage solution). The WISeID Personal Cloud app is free but users will be requested to pay for incremental Personal Cloud storage usage.

“It is now evident that companies’ and individuals’ requirements for IT capacity, availability and data security are getting higher all the time. New concepts like dynamic computing make it possible for companies to respond more flexibly. Compliance requirements make it advisable to process and store data in Switzerland, and Swisscom fully complies with these requirements with its new generation datacenters in Switzerland”, says Stefan Lengarcher, Swisscom’s Dynamic Storage Product Manager.

“Looking to expand revenues and diversification on cyber security offerings, WISeKey launched the Personal Cloud concept during the World Economic Forum in Davos as we are predicting that 2014 is the year we will see personal clouds move the gravity center from application-centric to personal centric models where users will retake the control of their personal data. Gone are the days of huge centralized clouds and ID metasystems with no respect to personal data. The trend WISeKey is launching this year in cooperation with Swisscom is Personal Clouds. Developing localized personal cloud computing will localize and reduce the cost of the cloud technology. The offering is designed to complement WISeKey’s  portfolio which currently includes encrypted mobile telephony, digital identification of people and objects (IoT) and cyber security resilience technologies” – Carlos Moreira, Founder/CEO, WISeKey.
