In order to use a
digital certificate issued by a
WISeKey affiliate CA, you must
install the WISeKey Common Global
Root certificate, and the
Affiliate CA certificate of your
issuer into each browser that you
will be using.
Microsoft
Internet Explorer 5.5
Note that these
instructions are for Microsoft
Internet Explorer version 5.5. Other
versions of the browser may have
different steps to install a Root
Certificate.
To install
WISeKey's Root Certification
Authority into Microsoft Internet
Explorer:
-
Start
Microsoft Internet Explorer,
and go to the web location http://www.wisekey.com/install/root.htm.
-
Select
the certificate which you
would like to install from
the menu on the left of this
page, in this case the WISeKey
Common Global Root
certificate.
-
IE may
ask you to Save this file
to disk or Open this
file from its current
location. Check Open
and click on OK
Note: If clicking on
Open results in a dialog
which asks you to Open
with... Click the program
you want to use to open this
file or similar, then
click on Cancel and
repeat from step 2, but this
time select Save this
file to disk. Save
the file to a location on
your system, then use
Windows Explorer to browse
to the location of the file
and open it, and continue at
step 4.

A new
window will open listing the
properties of the
certificate. Select the
first tab titled General
and click on Install
Certificate
-
A new
window will open called the Certificate
Manager Import Wizard. The
first screen gives you
general info about a
certificate. Click Next

You will
be requested to Select a
Certificate Store.
Select the option Automatically
select the certificate store
based on the type of
certificate and click Next
>
-
The final
screen will display the
selected info. Verify:
Certificate Store
Selected by Wizard :
(Automatically selected by
the Wizard)

Select Finish
-
A dialog
should appear:

Verify the thumbrint value
in your dialog with that in
the above picture. It should
be identical. Click Yes. A
dialog indicating that the
Import was successful should
appear.

Click OK
to finish.

Select OK
on the original window to
close it.
The certificate
is now installed into Internet
Explorer 5.5
Netscape
Browsers (Communicator 4.6)
Note that these
instructions are for Netscape
Communicator version 4.6. Other
versions of the browser may have
different steps to install a Root
Certificate.
To install
WISeKey's Root Certification
Authority certificate into Netscape
Communicator:

Start
Netscape Communicator, and
go to the web location http://www.wisekey.com/install/root.htm.

Select
the certificate which you
would like to install from
the menu on the left of this
page, in this case the WISeKey
Common Global Root
certificate.

Netscape
will pop up a window called New
Certificate Authority.
Click Next>

is provided about
Certificate Authorities in
general. Click Next>

Information
about the Certificate
Authority is provided.
Verify the following info:
Certificate for: WISeKey
SA
Signed by : WISeKey SA

Click on More
Info...
-
The
complete information for the
certificate is provided.
Verify :
Certificate Fingerprint
:
FE:D4:9A:0F:8B:E4:F2:15:C4:C5:E4:21:77:FD:42:E1

OK this
window and if all is correct
click Next>

You will
be requested to check off
which services you want to
allow this Certificate
Authority to Certify. They
are:
Accept this Certificate
Authority for Certifying
network sites
Accept this Certificate
Authority for Certifying
e-mail users
Accept this Certificate
Authority for Certifying
software developers
-
Check off
all three and click Next>
-
You will
be requested if you want to
be warned before you send
data to sites certified by
this CA. This is optional
either way. Click Next>
-
You will
be requested for a name for
the Certificate Authority.
Enter "WISeKey
Common Global Root"
-
Click Finish
The certificate
is now installed into Netscape
Communicator.
Verify the
Certification Authority Certificate
is the Correct one.
In Netscape
Communicator:
-
From the
menu across the top select Communicator
-> Tools -> Security
Info
-
The
security window will open.
In the left side panel
select Signers under Certificates.
-
In the
right side panel scroll down
the list and Highlight WISeKey
Common Global Root then
select the Edit
button on the far right.
In the window that opens
verify (MD5 algorithm):
Certificate Fingerprint:
FE:D4:9A:0F:8B:E4:F2:15:C4:C5:E4:21:77:FD:42:E1

If the
finger print matches then
you have the correct
Certificate. Close all
windows by selecting OK
In Microsoft
Internet Explorer:
-
From the
menu across the top select Tools
-> Internet Options
-
In the Internet
Options window that
opens select the tab Content
In the second panel click on
Certificates...
-
In the Certificate
Manager window select
the tab Trusted Root
Certification Authorities
-
Scroll
down the list and highlight
WISeKey Common Global Root
and click on View
In the Certificate window
select the tab Details and
in the top panel select
Thumbprint. In the bottom
panel verify the thumbprint
algorithm is sha1 and
its value to be:
EC2A D5B0 3BB9 2DB4 EF10
0D50 4E3E 6529 325C 2AEB
If the thumbprint matches
then you have the correct
Certificate. Close all
windows.
