WISeKey Introduction

History
The company uses amongst others distributed root-based Public Key Infrastructure (“PKI”) and trusted electronic identification (“E-ID”) technologies to provide identification, authentication and encryption products and services. The products and services enable public and private organisations to identify individuals and assets and engage in safe, secure and confidential electronic communications and transactions.

In its first years, WISeKey globally launched and operated Root Certification Authority services. WISeKey has further commercialised this technology since then in several areas with products such as e-CommercePKI and for example solutions for e-voting in Geneva. Accompanying the development and release of such products, WISeKey set up a consultancy service, guiding customers in securing their web-communication and -transactions.

Building on this foundation, WISeKey sought to evolve its products and services offering by developing its CertifyID product line that enabled customers (public or private sector) to establish their own Trusted Identity Infrastructure. Because of its tight integration with the Windows Server platform, it is low-cost, easy to deploy and with a widespread knowledge and experience across the world through the tens of thousands of MS certified partners and technicians.

Since the early beginning, WISeKey took a special interest in the contribution to e-Government solutions, with applications such as Secure Service Portals, Secure E-Marketplaces, and Customer Interaction Centres.

Over the years WISeKey developed several strategic alliances with partners in different industries, including HP, Microsoft, Verisign, Sun, and the International Telecommunications Union.

WISeKey’s operations were guided by a clear and strong vision endorsed and supported by its Board of Directors and its Advisory Committee:

·         Be a leader in secure digital identities, building on important values such as integrity, neutrality, respect, excellence, customer privacy and safety, and a passion for technology and innovation;

·         Become the leader of an e-identity market, whereby traditional PKI technology is used in a different way to better suit and blend with emerging business models;

·         Leverage its unique Swiss Trust model together with trusted partners, such as the OISTE Foundation and the ITU.
