WISeKey Announces the Signing of an Agreement with Landmark Enterprises for the establishment of a USA Hub in Charleston, South Carolina.

Geneva, Switzerland and Charleston, SC, USA June 26th 2009
As part of its strategy to expand the WISeKey network of Secure Hubs around the world, the company has announced today that it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Landmark Enterprises, Inc. a full service commercial development and real estate company, in order to establish a new WISeKey Electronic Security Hub in Charleston connected to its network of Secure Hubs and Bunkers in Spain, Switzerland and Brazil. These trusted infrastructures and associated operations will enable Secure Internet services to be offered to customers in the United States through the agreement signed by WISeKey and Microsoft on Citizen Service Platforms and implemented in several locations: http://www.microsoft.com/emea/presscentre/pressreleases/WISeKeyPR_29042009.mspx. The USA Hub will be connected to other Hubs in Switzerland and Malaga at the Malaga Valley Technology Park creating a platform for trusted cloud computing.

Through Secure Hubs, WISeKey delivers global solutions to local communities via a Trusted Cloud Computing offering, creating one of the most widely used trusted networks on the Internet. Customers include state agencies, national telecommunications companies and e-commerce service providers. This is helping accelerate the PKI 2 movement, which consists of using Web 2.0 transaction services for Digital identification.

"WISeKey's long experience in securing e-Government services and its unique Trust Platform and ID portability capability are a major asset for deployment of the CSPs around the world," said Carlos Moreira, Founder and CEO of WISeKey. We are very happy to partner with Landmark Enterprises in the development of secure infrastructure in the USA out of Charleston.

"Establishing a WISeKey Hub in the USA will act as an economic driver for education, technology and boosting international interest in South Carolina. This partnership is important for Charleston and its position within the region, nationally and globally, as a high tech ready city. Landmark Enterprises is honored to develop the facilities for a company as prestigious and far reaching as WISeKey. We hope this initiative will link many projects of great technological and commercial interest in the Southeast," said Gene Blanton, CEO of Landmark Enterprises.

Charleston is a very strategic location in the USA. Local defense and security industries are attracting highly skilled workers. In September the Miliken Institute declared the Charleston metro area, which includes North Charleston and Summerville, to be among the leading ten cities for job creation. Between 2000 and 2007 the number of people working in IT grew by 52% in the Charleston region; nationally, it went up by only 9%. The numbers of scientists, architects and engineers grew by 52%, while dropping 3% nationally.
