Geneva, March 24th, 2011 – WISeKey announced the appointment of Cristina Valls-Taberner Muls as a member of its Advisory Board, as part of the new approach of the company to bring leading young entrepreneurs to work at its advisory board. The committee, chaired by Carlos Moreira, WISeKey founder and CEO, provides advice to WISeKey’s senior management regarding matters of strategic business development and future revenue growth.
Cristina Valls-Taberner Muls is an entrepreneur with more than 10 years of senior operations and chief executive experience working with financial and technology companies and has one of the best networks in the world. She has worked with brands such as Mercedez-Benz, Jaguar and Banco Santander and created her own luxury brand, Chris&Cris, which has 30 corners already at department stores such as El Corte Ingles in Spain. As CEO and president of Chris&cris, her leadership capabilities have guided the company through several phases of growth. Today, Chris&cris is redesigning its business model to integrate internet technologies and luxury brands.
Prior to this, her passion in real estate and design led her to start a company transforming industrial buildings and warehouses into residential buildings in the centre of cities. After her success in real estate IPOS, Ms. Valls started a real estate fund to invest in the Brazilian coast. She became member of the board of Brazilinvest and also introduced President Clinton in front of 500 business people in New York. She also started a small merchant bank, VF Partners, which handles private equity deals and advises companies in different sectors such as water efficiency, biometrics, renewable energy, real estate and more.
Ms. Valls has been awarded best entrepreneur of the year in Spain in 2002, organized by Jaguar, IESE and Actualidad Economica. As a member of the art fund Ars Fundum, she is also on the committee of honor, and a partner of Natural Electric, a renewable energy company in Spain.
Cristina said, “I am delighted to join this prestigious advisory committee and to develop an innovative project that combines Chris&Cris with an ultra-exclusive social network that will not only ensure interoperability among its members through the integration of wearable technologies, but also offer protection for the brand from counterfeiters”.
Carlos said, “Too few women serve on the boards and advisory boards in European companies. With three women now serving on its board and advisory board, WISeKey is showing its commitment to gender equality and ensuring that companies capture the benefits of diversity. I am delighted to welcome Cristina to the advisory board, where we are looking forward to working with her and benefiting from her strong leadership and entrepreneurial experience to advise WISeKey on its strategy in relation to the luxury market and increasing the WISeID brand protection community.”
