Carlos Moreira reaffirmed WISeKey's longtime commitment against fraud and corruption at the UN Headquarters International Anti-corruption day 

Today WISeKey participated at the United Nations Headquarters International Anti-corruption day in NY. This is an importnat day as it is the day on which nations pledge to stamp out corruption.

The date has been endorsed by the United Nations General Assembly that also adopted the United Nations Convention against Corruption under Resolution - 58/4 on the 31st. October, 2003.

WISeKey as a United Nations Global Compact member since 2005 and World Economic Forum PACI member said during the UN Conference in NY that WISeKey technologies and trust networks are designed to help increase trust between users and service providers offering corporations, small business owners, and government agencies the ability to give their customers and colleagues access to their sensitive data to perform transactions from unsecured access points and to counter corruption by providing strong authentication and credentials.

The potential for fraud and corruption is a major hurdle for the evolution and growth of Internet and online commerce, according to the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD). Identity theft is defined as the process of using someone else's personal information for your own personal gain. In 2010, identity theft worldwide increased by 45 percent from 2010. The Aberdeen Group has estimated that $221 billion a year is lost by businesses worldwide due to identity theft.


At the UN Conference, Carlos Moreira reaffirmed WISeKey's longtime commitment to facilitating better and trusted electronic transactions between businesses, governments, and citizens during the conference which was attended by government officials and business leaders.
